Build the claim from what you can defend
- Record the situation and the task you were actually responsible for.
- Name your action without upgrading contribution into ownership or team work into individual work.
- Add supported scope such as a named process, audience type, location, cadence, or deliverable.
- Describe an observable change only when a current approved source records it; otherwise keep the result unconfirmed.
When numbers are missing
Use specific evidence, not estimated precision
Prefer a verifiable process change, completed deliverable, resolved issue, adopted procedure, or documented responsibility over a guessed percentage. Label recollection, estimates, and missing baselines as unresolved questions for human review.
After access ends
Do not recover metrics through unauthorized access
After a layoff or departure, use only records you already possess and are permitted to use. Do not sign back into a former employer's systems, retain credentials, request customer or internal files, or ask former colleagues to disclose confidential metrics. When an exact number cannot be supported, describe the truthful action, scope, deliverable, and observable non-numeric result instead.
